Double Trio de Clarinettes Label: between the lines Line-up: Le Trio de Clarinettes: |
Info: However, a work has been created with "Itinéraire Bis" that is in a class of its own, which represents a rarity even in jazz and not just thanks to the very extraordinary musicians. Instead, the reason is that two seasoned teams, which trust each other blindly, have transferred this trust into a sextet. With uncanny instinct and sureness, they follow one another into the great depths of free improvisation and exactly notated arrangements with perfect intonation. They do not limit themselves to prescribed concepts and sounds, but instead overblow, puff, pant and clatter, so that pure joy results. There are sounds, which you would rather locate in the animal kingdom or a factory. And then again very charming melodies – six clarinets in a small but huge cosmos. This is a CD for all, who have looked forward to a real sound for sore ears. |

Marc Perrenoud Trio Label: Double Moon Records Line-up: |
Info: There are undoubtedly many piano trios in jazz. However, only very few of them have consistently done "their thing" as has the Marc Perrenoud Trio for many years to get inexorably to the top of their field. They have developed a language, which takes its inspiration from many sources like Esperanto and consequently can be learned and experienced by many. Opulently furnished harmony sequences remind you of Bach’s work, but then you are reminded of rock fanfares in the next moment. Only a few minutes later, and we are in the delta of blues that takes us on swinging waters. Then back to ballads full of sensitivity, which almost call études to mind. However, like the world and lives of the individuals in that, the music of the trio is rich in surprising moments, which either leave you with peace of mind or cause you to protest angrily. Whoever has seen the trio perform live knows how listeners are enchanted by this extraordinary music. Performances in cities such as Paris and New York, Berlin and Budapest as well as Buenos Aires and Panama are proof of this as are numerous tours through the Mideast and South America. "Vestry Lamento" is surprisingly only the third album of the trio existing since 2007. The predecessor CD "Two Lost Churches" (DMCHR 71095) released by Double Moon Records already triggered an extraordinary response in the press, and the new one will certainly surpass that. |

Axel Schlosser Label: Double Moon Records Line-up: |
Info: The 37-year-old trumpet and flugelhorn player Axel Schlosser is releasing the first CD of his quartet founded in 2011. He has found perfectly matched partners in Olaf Polziehn on piano, Martin Sjöstedt on contrabass and Daniel Fredriksson on drums, who know precisely how to implement his musical visions and radiate with tasteful solos always at the service of the music. The range of pieces is very wide, and we undertake a musical journey, in which very different styles are interwoven. At times, they flash for a short time like words quoted randomly, and at other times they are played out to the end with time allotted for their development. Modern jazz meets ragtime and folk songs as well as modes of New Orleans’ sounds; the quartet plays full of drive and tension in upbeat numbers at times and then enchants listeners in ballads full of feeling and sensitivity. You notice with every note that the communication, the "chemistry", is right in the band. Schlosser produces wonderful sounds on the trumpet and flugelhorn, which range from aggressively sharp to deep and soft as silk. Polziehn on the piano shines not just thanks to his great solos, which are actually just as important, but also thanks to his ability to find the right notes in accompanying, to create space and – when necessary – to pound the keys to the fullest. The rhythm group of Martin Sjöstedt on bass and Daniel Fredriksson on drums is a dream team. Their playing supports the group to the utmost. Sjöstedt also entic |

Levantino Label: Fine Music, GLM Music Line-up: |
Info: Levantino (lɛvɑn∙tino), n.: German male band. Having met in high school, they first paid their dues playing as a live band for dinners and dances before going on their first club tour in 2012. ‟Listen to the band and you’ll be drawn in by their cool Klezmer sound, which spontaneously breaks out in an eruption of sound, before seamlessly slipping back into classical verse and then emerging into equally enthralling rock or impulsive free jazz. Nothing about them is conventional, nothing is predictable, and nothing is set in stone. Levantino’s concerts are like an adventurous trip for your ears“ When the concert begins, the cares of the world start to melt away. |

Info: A guitar sound that dives into the terrestrial hemisphere, like from a distant orbit, drums that carefully scan and sense the unfamiliar sound, and finally, a bass groove whose gravitation pulls them both down to the ground. Welcome to “Hymnolia”. The Melt Trio is a guitar trio that does without any comparison. Melt is neither Nirvana on jazz nor Bill Frisell Trio in rock and also not Massacre in ambient. Melt is Melt; unique, individual, absorbing and touching, spreading its wings like an albatross, so closely calling from a far distance |
